I celebrate my birthday in a couple weeks and I always remember I was born on a snowy February day here in NY. I only moved back here 3 years ago after living in Texas, Hawaii and Japan for over 40 years. I enjoy the quiet. Maybe it would be different if I worked outside the home, had to drive in the snow or had young children I had to get ready or pickup. I'm enjoying this cozy, semi-retired life and feel gratitude for where I've been and where I am now.

Such a lovely read. I'm trying to keep my mornings grounded as I used to always be in a rush or distracted. This was the quiet encouragement I needed.

I really loved this post! It was a good reminder for me to slow down and enjoy the small things in the moment. I'm torn between wanting spring to be here and wanting the cold and coziness to last. I have been enjoying have more sunlight. The darkness is the hardest part of winter.

Today's post was like reading somebody's stream of thought. It's how I usually journal by myself but I never thought to share it with anyone. You're lucky that your desk faces a window with an actual view of the sky.

People in the past looked a lot more at the sky because there were no screens to entertain them. They also were depending on the weather to provide them a good harvest, so they were smarter about the changing of seasons. Sometimes I feel connected with my Mexican Indian ancestors when I look up at the few stars that out-glow the city lights at night.

actually unfortunately my desk doesn't face the window haha but our day bed sort of does which is where I do a lot of my writing. I think you've just helped me realise why I like writing there so much because I love looking out the window as I write! and you make a good and lovely point about reading the skies. I like how you feel closer to your heritage because of it too that's really sweet🩷

yesss i totally agree, i start feeling spring in the air as soon as february begins. i am excited for spring but have also been enjoying the coziness of winter ! (tbh it also helps that i like my winter wardrobe more than my summer one lol, but the goal is to revamp it this year)

haha i prefer my autumn/winter wardrobe too! and it's nice to see signs of spring already, i don't usually notice it!
