Love this. Not necessarily cozy, but just single player games in general are usually so much less toxic than multiplayer and have amazing stories. I've always loved stories, books, movies, and some video games are just as good at that storytelling. And the good thing about them is usually there's a storyline you go through and complete, so it's not neverending and as addicting as multiplayer games like shooters or League of Legends.

I wouldn't call them cozy but The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption and God of War set the bar for storytelling in videogames. I've also always loved the Legend of Zelda titles, and if you haven't played those there's a couple of them on the 2ds! I definitely get a cozy feeling with the Zelda games.

i agree that some games story telling is better than some books i've read lol and you know what, someone out there is calling the games you mentioned cosy probably haha. also thank you for reminding me about the zelda games, i've always heard such good things and i bet the older ones are a little better too!

I've never played stardew valley! I tried breath of the wild, but I'm terrible at video games so it was a little too hard for me. Maybe one of these would be a bit easier!

omg caroline you're missing out! i think stardew was my first proper video game lol and i'm still not very good at games but these types are a lot more friendly haha

Thank you for writing on one of my favourite hobbies! I'm a firm believer in #1 the neurological benefits of gaming on our nervous system and #2 there is a game out there for everyone, you just need to find it.

I gamed when I was a teen but have rediscovered gaming in 2022. Since then I believe that it has significantly affected my creativity and problem solving for the better, connected my even closer to my partner and that cozy feeling you're talking about, it's something to pay attention to. Don't get me wrong I'm a massive A personality and it's not always easy for me to relax and rest and because of that I think we all should search for more "cosy" in our day to day. Cosy is peace, peace is happiness.

My favourite cozy game right now is Skyrim. It's also, it's sooo charming.

yess there is definitely a game out there for everyone, currently trying to tell my partner this exact thing after we completely burnt out playing stardew together haha. and you're so right, i think everyone can benefit from these cosy games and finding cosy moments in our everyday lives in general! maybe i'll give skyrim a go since my partner seemed to enjoy it for a while too. really glad you enjoyed the post!

Tiny bookshop just came out and it is an incredible cozy game! My wife has been playing it on the switch and projecting it on the tv. Very fun. Very cozy.

For a less conventional cozy game. Skyrim. Wandering around and listening to the music is so peaceful.

Playing anything cuddled up on the couch can be pretty cosy!

i’ve been so on the fence about tiny bookshop! it looks right up my alley but i’m hearing people say it’s too idle and that you can’t play it for too long so hmmm. my boyfriend likes skyrim! i would read while he played and it was actually quite a cosy atmosphere in the living room for us haha so yes definitely anything comfy on a couch can be cosy!

The gameplay loop for tiny bookshop is pretty similar and there is a little time where you aren’t actively doing anything, but those moments are brief. I’d say maybe watch a 10 minute gameplay of it and if you think you would enjoy it, you probably will!

“Tiny bookshop” on switch is uber cute and ultimate cozy too! 📚 You set up a little mobile bookshop trailer and sell books. Then you restock and recommend books to customers. The graphics and vibe is adorable 🥹 and the missions are fun and no stress (except that first recommendation I had to do, I was so nervous to let that little virtual customer down 🫠)

yess i keep seeing this everywhere and it seems perfect! but i'm going to have to wait until my bank account recovers from the last couple of games i've bought recently first lol also being afraid to let down virtual customers is such a mood that will absolutely be me haha

i never realized that you crochet! (i think i only now noticed because i just started learning crochet lol. ultimate cozy hobby and it’s very tactile). i’m not a gamer but all of these suggestions sound lovely! (especially the hello kitty one because i love them all, especially my queen kuromi)

I love it when cozy games shine!! After putting SO many hours to farming sims, I have made it a personal mission to try and see the coziness in other games! Things like finding plants and flowers in Witcher 3, riding around on horseback in Red Dead Redemption 2 and flying from planet to planet in No Mans Sky are a few that stick out now. Not to mention getting into the stories/ world around you is so fun! Heres to more cozy gaming 🫶🏼

they deserve the limelight honestly also that's such a lovely way to look at the different games you play :') the horseback riding in red dead redemption has actually always looked really relaxing to me haha but the entire game looks miles away from something i'd play, maybe one day though! here's to more cosy games!🥰
