little joys and little sorrows #11
spring making me feel alive again, crystals, weirdos in the office, the joys of a perfect vinted purchase, abandoned animal crossing villagers + more
hello quiet readers,
it’s that time again. march is nearly over and spring has been making herself well known and we love nothing more but to see it. what has brought you the most joy this past month? what has brought you perhaps a little less joy and a little sorrow instead? it’s important to reflect on all things good and bad so we can see how much progress we’ve made, and maybe even be grateful for some of our sorrows, for they make the happy moments that touch brighter.
as always, feel free to leave your little joys and little sorrows in the comments. let’s get into the lists.
little joys
spring is finally here and my heart and soul feels alive again, like it’s thawing out of a cube of ice
daylight savings is on sunday!!!!!!!!!!
seeing cherry blossoms open up a little more on my walks to and from work
doing something scary but exciting and turning on paid subscriptions (thank you to those who have upgraded their subscription ily!!)
finding this adorable youtube channel and becoming the ultra-productive icon i’ve always dreamt of being
leaving the house without the big winter coat for the first time
maybe i’ve worn the big winter coat for the last time? and feeling really excited about that
the sun has been gifting us with beautiful colours in the sky lately
finally painting the sunset
adding to my crystal collection with some black obsidian and clear quartz
making adjustments to my schedule at work so my life doesn’t feel so ruled by my day job (will be writing a post on this later, make your job work for you wherever you can!)
enjoying not having a reading goal this year and actually reading for the pure joy of it instead of reaching an arbitrary goal for the first time in years
looking over at my table that has about four of my hobbies sprawled messily all over it—a life is being lived over there
finding an item you’ve been looking for forever on vinted and scooping it up before anyone else does
being more intentional with my youtube use and making my subscriptions feed actually useful instead of a desolate place i barely look at and letting an algorithm tell me what to watch instead :) (full podcast episode about this whole thing here!)
so. much. sunshine. i am so alive
little sorrows
i still have the world’s worst neighbours and it’s so hard not to let them ruin my entire day/life
people closing the blinds in the office??? it’s been 800 months of grey skies i don’t care if you can’t see your laptop screen just move somewhere else!!!
being forced to use the central line again (the worst train line in london for all my non-brits)
haven’t picked up my crochet needle in a decade
i can hear my animal crossing villagers crying from my nintendo switch which i haven’t touched in months
thank you for reading. feel free to drop some of your little joys and little sorrows in the comments.
here is the last instalment if you missed it, here is my last post on being unkind to the ones we love the most and here is my latest youtube video on welcoming spring with open arms.
thank you so much for being here. i’ll see you next wednesday <3
Can’t wait for the article on work-life balance and making work work for you. I am so completely lost on that topic and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Lovely post :)
Little joys from last week were:
- Feeling the sun on my skin
- Finally reconnecting with my art
- Reading at a cafe
- Daffodils are finally starting to bloom
Little sorrows:
- I also can hear my abandoned animal crossing villagers....I think about them daily but have no will to play again
- the squirrels ate most of the seeds I planted
- Carpenter bees are back and at it again
