reflecting on june: cosy games and sunshine healing the soul, missing art galleries, long hikes that make you ache, searching for a book that will reach the deepest parts of me
A little joy: I made my second collage logging a book I finished, a practice inspired by you, Candice! It wasn’t as good as the first one (not false modesty, just observation), but it was still supremely satisfying to make—I think because it forces me to remember what I read, find the salient points and the parts that really resonated with me, and then pushes me to find images that match. Soooo fun!!
ahhh angela i love this!!! yes it really makes you slow down and actually try to remember what you read! i think it's funny to be like "i can't remember anything about this book but i loved it" but also... i think that's probably not great lol i'm guilty of this thinking and actively trying to stop so i'm so glad this medium i inspired actually worked for you!😄
Finding images that match the ones on my head is actually really challenging, in a good way! Makes me rethink and be a little more resourceful. Bonus that it also slows down my reading pace, in the sense that I take the extra time with each book rather than seeing them as checkmarks
I’d call that a little sorrow: when someone else’s negative opinion, unfortunately, colors your own positive one. I genuinely loved The Goldfinch for years and then we (as in humanity I guess, or maybe just us online) started dogpiling on it, and sad to say it did change my perception of the book ☹️
Short story long, continue not letting them (us?) ruin Donna Tartt for you!
true! i'm so happy i didn't let the negative reviews stop me from getting the game. also i have been putting off the goldfinch for ages bc i know it's not loved! still own it though and want to give it to try :')
A I get a lot of joy from listening to music, especially playlists that I curated myself. Recently I listened to one called My 90s Childhood and it was like traveling back in time.

that's exactly it! I've found myself reading slower too :’) I'd love to see one of the collages but absolutely fine if you'd rather not!
This cozy game looks great! And I absolutely loved The Secret History too!!
it's getting a lot of hate😭 but i don't think it's all that terrible! also tsh is literally perfection to me :') good! taste!

The Goldfinch reads like an epic to me. I’ve reread it probably half a dozen times!
