Hello! I’m currently writing this after a 5k run that I very much overdid and feel a little woozy… And I have a meeting at work in about 45 minutes, wish me luck. Hope your Tuesday is off to a better start.
Anyway, if you didn’t know, I used to run a magazine called la jaden, a self-discovery and wellness magazine for WOC. I posted on the Instagram account this week about my word of the year. I had always seen people talk about it as a guide for the whole year, a reminder to return to when you feel like you’re straying off the path or when life keeps on lifeing. I had never tried it myself so I quickly jumped on the bandwagon and decided mine would be “creativity, but just for me”. Not exactly one word, but I wanted to make it clear that I was going to create things for my own personal enjoyment, mainly engaging in hobbies (and certainly not monetising them). And so far, it’s been lovely.
I thought I’d carry on this train of thought from my Instagram post and post another little joys/little sorrows for you. I loved sharing our joys and sorrows in the comments last time so please do feel welcome to share some again. <3
little joys:
making a v yummy smoothie yesterday afternoon
crocheting lots and simultaneously watching docs and debates
listening to this discussion on human consciousness and finding it so interesting
subsequently learning about panpsychism which sounds incredible
feeling like I’m becoming a runner (new personality trait unlocked)
reading more philosophy again after wanting to get back into it for years
seeing the 1975 live!!
taking an updated photo for my work ID card and noticing I’ve lost weight (intentional)
loving non-fiction books right now
not caring about reading goals and still practising slow reading
little sorrows:
forgetting how ‘the secret history’ ends
how I felt after my run this morning
feeling anxious
being unsure of myself at times
having lots of thoughts and forgetting to journal about them
As always, please share your little joys and little sorrows in the comments below, and I’ll see you on our chat, a random podcast ep or here next week!

So proud of your fitness goal! Could never be me🫰🏻 my little joys of the week are getting my big girl wax and giggling with my aesthetician about celebs we’ve met! My little sorrow of the week is Aitch probably wont ask me to be his wife at his concert tonight 🥲 hope you had a giggle x
Thanks for sharing! Always a good thing to self reflect. My little joys are: getting Usher tickets and making my mum happy/excited, coming back to little emails at work following from annual leave & having little to no pains with my long term health condition! My little sorrows are: public transport misbehaving when coming back from work, feeling like I’m not good enough and running out of time to do the things I enjoy.
